My perfect house

I can now sit back and heave a big sigh of relief. The finished decor of my house is worth every cent of my hard earned money and every unit of my energy. Now, I can simply enjoy the little paradise that I have created.

By observing the exterior, one will get the impression of a cottage in the country-side. The stark white color of the house is toned down by the rows of palm trees and shrubs in the front lawn. The multi-colored flowers greet me every morning as I sit on my rocking chair and enjoy the fresh morning air.

Within the house, a similar condition prevails. The perpetual open windows allow for healthy ventilation and full view of the serene and beautiful garden. The living room boasts of a dark mahogany sofa set which is complemented by parquet flooring. Just a few meters away, I have created a “corner of peace” as I call it; and this is for the purpose of relaxation. I have placed a large durable rug, some cushions, some magazines and books for leisure reading and a small, portable radio.

Contrary to the condition of informality of the areas I have mentioned, the dining area portrays unmatched grandeur. The entrance to it consists of magnificent archways and pillars which will remind one of the intricate Roman architecture. The windows are deliberately draped with dramatic purple-colored velvet curtains done up with frills and tassels. To top them all, I have purposely chosen my furniture that bears an Elizabethan air of supremacy. To complete the atmosphere, I have added a beautiful chandelier to brighten up the dining area. This part of my house is the source of my pride especially on occasions when I have to entertain important guests.

The kitchen is another place of extreme importance. I have managed to come up with a splendid arrangement of kitchen cabinets, refrigerator and cookers and an undoubtedly perfect color combination. Because this area is where food is prepared, I made sure that I allowed for maximum hygiene. I have my oven and refrigerator built into the cabinet. My cooker is next to the wash basin and my little portable waste basket which comes with tight-fitting lid is directly below it. The kitchen also offers an extended table attached to the cabinet that can be utilized as an informal dining area. The toilets, not to be ignored, have also been scrupulously planned. To with stand continuous splashing of water, I have chosen durable, tinted sliding doors. I have also thrown rubber mats on the floor of the bathroom to prevent accidents such as slipping while bathing. In short, my relatively small kitchen has great utility value.

Finally, I take pleasure in describing the bathrooms which I have enjoyed decorating. The master bedroom has been furnished with a chrome-plated bed that comes with side tables, a made-to-order-wardrobe that has an efficient storage system and a full length mirror to give me the pleasure of looking at myself from head to toe. I have used a range of fabrics from the Laura Ashley collection. The pale, muted blue flowery print blends well with the plain blue textured wallpaper. The bed sheets, the curtains and even the cushion covers are of the same Laura Ashley collection.

The guestroom, however, makes use of bright yellow as its main hue. There are two single beds separated by a light yellow rug. The beds come with drawers for keeping clothes neat and tidy. The drawers can also be converted into a bed when the need arises.

To conclude, I feel proud and happy that I was able to design and decorate my house so well without the expertise and help of professional house renovators. The emergence of my dream house readily gives me the utmost pleasure and satisfaction.

My favorite TV programs

As a senior high school student, I am very busy with my studies. Although I am very fond of watching television, I can only spend an hour after dinner on my hobby. Of all the TV programs, I like the news and documentaries best.

The news programs shown on all TV channels at 7:00 p.m. help me to know almost everything about different places in our country and important events happening all over the world. Through these programs, I can also know about the main national and international sportingevents.

The documentary programs at weekends are my favorites. By watching them, I can learn a great deal about human civilizations, the wonders of nature and the amazing inventions and discoveries of great people in the world.

Watching television is my hobby. I cannot imagine a day in my life without watching it

My family

My family consists of four people. There are my parents, my sister and me. My father is an engineer working for a government office. My mother is a housewife. My sisteris a primary school teacher, and I am a high school student.

We get up at 6 o’clock every morning. After breakfast, my father and my sister go to work, my mother does the housework and I go to school. We have lunch at noon and dinner at 7 p.m. In the evening after dinner, we sit together in the living-room talking or watching television for about an hour. Then my sister and I go to our own rooms to prepare the lessons for the coming week.

My family is a very happy one. We love each other very much and expect to live together under the same roof forever.

My best friend

When I was in Primary Four, a new boy joined my class during the second semester. As I was sitting next to him, I was asked to help him to get used to the new environment. We hit it off instantly. Two years have passed. Now, we have become the best friends. That boy’s name is Huy.

Huy is much taller and skinner than I am. He is also very agile. That is why he has qualified for our school basketball team. He is also one of our school’s best athletes. He specializes in the hurdles and high jump events.

Huy is very involved in sports and games, he is very disciplined. He always finishes his homework on time. In fact, he has always been one of the top students in class.

One major belief that both of us agree on is that friends should share their thoughts and knowledge. This enables us to know each other very well. Thus, in spite of the fact that he is an extrovert and I am not, we are still such close friends. I really treasure this friendship and hope that it will last forever.

My daily activities

Every morning from Monday to Saturday, I get up at 6 o'clock. After breakfast, I go to school by bicycle. It takes me about 20 minutes from my house to my school. Usually, I study at school until 11:30 a.m. I return home at noon to have lunch with my family. In the afternoon I attend English and computer courses. I always get home just in time for dinner at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, while my parents are watching television in the living-room, I read books or prepare for school in my own room.

I am free at weekends. On Sunday mornings, I get up later than usual. Then I often go shopping downtown with my friends. Sometimes we go for a picnic in the countryside. On rainy Sundays, I stay at home reading books and listening to music.

3. “Đôi khi tôi chẳng muốn làm Sếp gì cả”
Đừng nghĩ làm Sếp là được sướng, được lười khỏi làm gì cả nhé! Ngược lại, các Sếp luôn phải làm việc chăm chỉ và chịu hi sinh nhiều thứ để có thể đạt được như ngày hôm nay. (Và một số Sếp cũng rất ghét khi phải giao việc cho bạn, hay nhờ vả ai đó để làm những việc mà chính họ có thể tự hoàn thành được.)

4. “Không phải chuyện nào tôi cũng được thẳng thắn với nhân viên”
Thẳng thắn với nhân viên sẽ giúp mối quan hệ giữa Sếp và nhân viên tốt hơn. Các Sếp sẽ không muốn giữa Sếp với nhân viên có bí mật gì. Nhưng về thực tiễn pháp lý và các quy định chung của tổ chức, công ty, Sếp buộc lòng phải “thôi ta giấu cho riêng ta biết”.

5. “Tôi sẽ biết khi bạn ném đá tôi”
Những lời nói xấu sẽ không lọt đến tai Sếp theo nhiều cách mà nhân viên không biết trước được. Có thể “người bạn” mà bạn hay chia sẻ các lời phàn nàn đã không giữ bí mật cho riêng mình.

6. “Tôi thích cân nhắc những lời khuyên từ bên thứ 3 hơn”
Có 1 điều chắc chắn rằng, nhân viên nào cũng mong muốn mình là người được Sếp tham vấn ý kiến. Tuy nhiên, các tư vấn viên hoặc nhân viên bán hàng sẽ là người có quan điểm, góc nhìn tốt hơn và nhất là, họ sẽ chấp nhận lời từ chối và kiềm chế cảm xúc tốt hơn khi Sếp “vùi dập” ý kiến của họ.

7. “Có lúc tôi chẳng biết phải làm thế nào”
Làm Sếp đòi hỏi phải nhìn xa trông rộng, nhưng không phải lúc nào họ cũng đúng đắn. Quản lý công việc và tài nguyên đã khó, nhưng quản lý con người càng khó hơn gấp bội. Do đó, không phải lúc nào các Sếp cũng có thể đưa ra quyết định đúng hay cư xử một cách hoàn hảo.

8. “Tôi muốn bạn cứ làm đúng như tôi giao”
Muốn làm việc hiệu quả và đạt được kết quả thì giữa Sếp và nhân viên cần có sự trao đổi, thảo luận thường xuyên đạt được sự đồng thuận. Tuy vậy, có những thời điểm đòi hỏi nhân viên phải nhạy cảm để nắm được ý Sếp và cứ làm theo đúng như yêu cầu. Ý kiến gì thì cứ việc lên phường!

Sếp đã chọn bạn, nghĩa là Sếp tin tưởng vào bạn và quyết định đầu tư thời gian, công sức, và tiền bạc vào bạn, với mong mỏi bạn sẽ luôn vui vẻ, trẻ khỏe. Lợi nhuận từ sự đầu tư này trước hết là hiệu suất công việc, lòng trung thành, và xa hơn nữa là các thành quả cá nhân mà chính bạn gặt hái được.
